plasma pen

Once the desired results from the Plasma treatment have been achieved, they will last between 3-5 years on average. This is because the skin carries on ageing at the natural rate – this means some people may not need it doing again and others may like another treatment after this period of time to maintain results.

  • This varies as the Plasma Pen can be used all over your body for different reasons. The time it takes to do each area depends on the area of concern and the client. On average it takes a couple of hours – we always leave an hour to go over what was spoken about in the consultation and after care, as well as giving time for the area to numb. Someone having the skin tag removals treatment will not take half as long as a full stomach area.

The Plasma Pen doesn’t affect anyones ability to work. For example, someone having the eye area done will still be able to see and drive and manage as they would normally. However, booking time off work may be beneficial to some clients, particularly when considering which area is being completed. For example, having a body treatment is easier to cover up, whereas someone who wears make-up and is uncomfortable with the healing process being on show may like some down time at home until the majority of the healing is over.

For people who prefers to have down time at home we usually recommend 7-10 days. This is how long it takes roughly for the carbon crusts to come away leaving just a pink undertone on the skin.

This also depends on the client and the after care. On average we say between 7-10 days, some people find the majority of the carbon crusts have come away by day 5, whilst people who may have a slower healing rate for whatever reason can take up to 14 days.

For the treatment we recommend wearing no makeup after the treatment until the carbon crusts have been removed. This is for hygiene and bacterial reasons as well as avoiding premature removal of the carbon crusts and causing infection and pigmentation. However, if the client is adamant about wearing make-up then we recommend our make up brand Heliocare Tinted Celcream as we know the ingredients and trust this brand. Heliocare Tinted Celcream is a 100% mineral based make-up which means no nasty chemicals on the skin – however, this still comes with caution as all brushes need to be washed after use to avoid any cross infection.

The Plasma Pen can treat all over the body from areas including the eyes, forehead, jowls, ears, hands, smokers lines, stomach, arms, knees, skin tag removal and so many more! All depending on the concern.

Before the treatment we carry out a free but thorough consultation which asks all about medical, lifestyle and reasons for having the treatment done. As long as the consultation goes well and all medical aspects are ok then anyone can have the treatment done, providing we are satisfied you are happy with how the Plasma Pen can help you!

NO! No one is ever too old for the treatment and the worse the concern is the better results we will see. It is never too late to be comfortable and happy in your own skin!

This is a question that is hard to answer without a consultation where we can assess the area and have a conversation with your self about your expectations. On average 2 treatments are recommended. However, once we can see the area, this may differ. Package deals are available.

Most people have no problem with the plasma and say nothing is really felt during the treatment as the numbing cream has done its job! However, this depends on the client’s pain threshold and sensitivity levels. If someone was uncomfortable during the treatment we offer regular tea/coffee  breaks as well as a second numbing cream as we want the client as comfortable as possible.

The treatment has had some fabulous results as well as feedback about the whole process, the most difficult part about the treatment is remaining patient as it takes 12 weeks to see the end results due to the collagen forming and your body doing its work! Here at Diminish we 100% believe in the treatment and all staff have had the treatment done in different areas. We wouldn’t recommend something we were not truly passionate about and have a large portfolio full of different people who have also had the treatment done with great results.

The only way the treatment can really go wrong is the after care so making sure you stick to the advice is vital. Wearing SPF constantly to avoid pigmentation and avoiding picking the carbon crusts are key ways to care for your skin as it heals.

The healing process is the stages the skin goes through after having the treatment done. When first having the Plasma Pen treatment (depending on the area treated), you may experience swelling, heat under the skin, redness and slight uncomfortable feelings. However, these will subside after a couple of days. The first 7-10 days are the worst because after the treatment the client will be waiting for the carbon crusts to heal and remove themselves. After these crusts have naturally fallen off, they leave a slight red undertone underneath the skin which is barely noticeable. This will usually only last a week, but on some occasions lasts for a maximum of a couple of weeks. After this it is now just a waiting game for 12 weeks to see the results improve.

It is recommended staying out of the sun for as long as possible before and after the treatment. This is usually between 6-12 weeks depending on the amount of sun.

The after care includes staying out of the sun for 12 weeks. This also means avoiding any sun beds, taking the vitamins and products we recommend depending on the concern and being careful with lifestyle, wearing SPF and not picking the carbon crusts.

Results may be visible when first done and also after 8 weeks however 12 weeks is the minimum for maximum results.

FAT FREEZING

Since this is a non-invasive procedure, there is no downtime. You can return to your normal routine the same day, so there is no need to take off work or skip the gym.

While downtime is minimal, you might experience mild bruising and redness because the cooling applicator repeatedly pulls on your skin in the treated areas. The bruised areas will likely feel tender when you touch them and the soreness could last for a week or 2.

Another side effect that could last for weeks is prolonged numbness. This happens when the cold temperature temporarily damages the nerves around the treated areas. Other side effects include swelling, skin sensitivity, muscle cramping, firmness, cramping, itchy & tingling sensation. The severity of the side effects depends on your skin sensitivity and the areas you have the treatment performed. We have found clients with more elasticity in the areas being treated feel little to no discomfort however clients with more “taut” skin do find the “pulling” sensation to be a little uncomfortable initially until the skin starts to numb.

Fat Reduction & Cm Loss are not instant, while some patients may see results as early as 3 weeks after their first treatment, the most dramatic results are usually seen between 1- and 3-months post treatment. In the weeks following your treatment, your body processes the fat and eliminates the dead cells through the lymphatic system. Depending on your body and the amount of fat on the area, more than one treatment may be necessary to get the desired results as everyone is different and follow different lifestyles (diet & exercise). Fat Freezing is not for weight loss and will not change the number on your scale because you are not losing weight. Losing weight only makes the cells smaller, it doesn’t completely eliminate them like Fat Freezing. Instead, you are freezing and killing fat cells in your body which causes you to lose centimetres, not weight.

Schedule a follow-up appointment for 1 month after your initial treatment. At this appointment, the aesthetic therapists can review your results (cm loss) and discuss possibilities for additional Fat Freezing treatments for other areas or repeat treatments for the same area. Depending on the size of the client and the amount of fat on the area, you will need 1 – 4 sessions every 30 – 60 days

If you can squeeze it, we can freeze it… Usually the lower tummy, top tummy/muffin top, love handles, saddle bags, double chin, bra bulges, back fat, inner thighs, chest, man-boobs or flabby knees are the most common treated areas, but it is important to remember that this is not a procedure for weight loss or for people who are obese. It works best for people who have isolated pockets of resistant fat. Those areas that you can see are struggling to respond to diet or exercise and simply need a different approach.

Extensive testing has shown that cooling only damages fat cells, and other tissues at the treatment site are not affected. The dead fat cells are swept away and discarded by the body’s normal metabolic processes. Because of its non invasive nature; Fat Freezing has considerably fewer risks than other fat reduction procedures. This procedure is considered safe for most patients, although there are certain risks associated with any kind of treatment. Some of these risks may include redness, bruising and reduced sensation in the treated area. These side effects are normal and usually go away on their own after the treatment.

chemical peel

Chemical Peels are used to treat:

  • Ageing skin
  • Improving fine lines and wrinkles and assisting with firming and tightening
  • Improving skin texture
  • Overall rejuvenation

Problematic Skin

  • Removal of commedones (black and white heads) and congestion
  • Oily skin with enlarged pores
  • Mild acne and mild acne scarring – calm aggressive inflammatory reactions in inflammatory acne
  • Acne Rosacea

Hyper-pigmentation and scarring

Brightening Pigmented skin caused by:

  • Solar Lentigines (UVR induced pigmentation)
  • Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation (PIH)
  • Melasma

As the collagen increases, this results in firmer skin with fewer wrinkles. As the high-frequency ultrasound beams are focused on a specific tissue site below the skin’s surface, there’s no damage to the upper layers of the skin and no immediate visible signs of treatment.

  • Facial treatments:

    • Face
    • Neck
    • Chest

Although Chemical peels are mainly performed on the facial areas, any area on the body can also be treated.

It depends on the type of Chemical Peel applied.

Some Chemical Peels are painless with only a slight tingling and itchy sensation during the application. Other Peels are virtually painless with a minimal burning sensation of the skin soon after the application. There are also Peels that gives the skin a short intense heat and burn. Any discomfort experienced is short and subsides after about a minute or two.

Various degrees of redness may also occur during the treatments but will resolve quickly. Your skin may feel either clean, hydrated, glowing to a little tight and dry, and even feel slightly heat sensitive directly after the treatment for the next 5 – 7 days. This will depend on the type of Chemical Peel that was applied.

Skin shedding of the various Chemical Peels also differ. In some instances, you will experience no visible peeling although microscopic peeling occurs. In other instances, you can experience visible peeling and dry flaking, giving you a downtime of approximately 3 – 7 days. Skin takes a while to repair itself, so you can expect a significant change in skin smoothness, firmness, glow and texture anywhere between day 2 – 7 and your skin will feel hydrated, plumped and glowing.

A Chemical Peel is not a once-off fix. Several treatments over an extended period may be needed to achieve results safely. Also, more than one type of Chemical Peel may be required to achieve results.

The Chemical Peel is usually no longer than 10 minutes, but due to upfront preparation of the skin, the treatment will last any time between 15 – 25 minutes.

Treatment intervals vary by the different types of Chemical Peels. Some of the Chemical Peels may be performed bi-weekly and others may only be performed every 4 weeks. Depending on the client’s concern, Chemical Peels will be recommended 2 x a month, alternatively, the average recommended interval period is approximately 1 x per month.

Due to the rapid cell turn-around of our skin, Chemical Peel intervals should not exceed 6 weeks.

All skin types can be treated. The application of Chemical Peels is not harmful or unhealthy if managed within the treatment protocols.

It is important to note that each Chemical Peel have very distinct pre and post treatment protocols which the client need to adhere to.

A complimentary consultation session of approximately 30 minutes, is required upfront where a comprehensive assessment will be done to determine whether you can proceed with treatments. During this session, expectations and possible contraindications will be discussed, and a plan formulated in accordance to your needs. If you are topically or orally allergic to aspirin, disprin or any related products, or you are pregnant you may not proceed with the Chemical Peel.

For the treatment of pigmentation for skin types 4 – 6, it is compulsory at Diminish Clinic to, use Corrective Brighter Concentrate/Brighter Serum and Ovelle Supplement 14 days prior to treatment. This is precautionary and necessary to calm down the additional production of pigmentation, resulting in Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation.

Each Chemical Peel has a specific pre-treatment protocol and will be provided to you by your Aesthetics Therapist; however, an overview of the pre-treatment protocol is as
follows:

  • NB: Daily full-spectrum sunscreen is essential.
  • Stop active topical products 3 days before the peel:
  • Retinoids (Vit A) i.e. Correctives RA, Dermaheal Ultra Renewal, Clarity PM, Luminesce Evening Glow
  • Home exfoliators – AHA / Alpha Hydroxy Acids and BHA / Beta Hydroxy Acids.
  • No tanning/sunbeds 2 weeks prior to treatment.
  • No laser/IPL/skin resurfacing treatments 2 weeks prior to treatment.
  • For treatment of dry/sensitive skin, it is preferable to use the Serra range for at least 2 weeks prior to the peel – assists with repairing impaired barrier. For dry/combination skins, use Barrier Repair 4 days prior.
  • For treatment of pigmentation, use Corrective Brighter Concentrate/Brighter Serum and Ovelle Supplement 14 days prior to treatment (assists with additional production / Post Inflammatory Hyperpigmentation) – NB:Compulsory for skin types 4 – 6.

Each Chemical Peel has a specific post-treatment protocol and will be provided to you by your Aesthetics Therapist; however, an overview of the post treatment protocol is as follows:

Minimum post care products are required for 5 days post care treatment (soap-free Cleaner and a Barrier Cream / Serra Restore).
NB: FULL-SPECTRUM SUNSCREEN IS ESSENTIAL EVERY SINGLE DAY.
Avoid direct sun exposure 14 days post peel – risk of hyperpigmentation (PIH).
DO NOT pick or pull skin! Can cause hyperpigmentation / scarring.
No waxing/exfoliating/chemical peels/IPL/laser/skin resurfacing/or needling treatments for 2 weeks after treatment. This includes toners and cleaners that contain alpha hydroxy acids.
Resume normal skin care routine, including products containing Retinoid ingredients – 5 days after the peel.
Make-up can be worn the following day post peel.

In addition to adhering to strict post treatment protocol and care, the following additional home care routines are advisable for effective and long-lasting results:

Keeping your skin hydrated and nourished with a quality skin care program and daily application of a full spectrum sunscreen
Taking appropriate supplements and nutrients
Maintaining a general healthy lifestyle which includes:
– A healthy and balanced diet
– Daily hydration (minimum of 6 – 8 glasses of water)
– Regular exercising
– Avoid smoking
– A balanced and healthy mind

Skin takes a while to repair itself, so you can expect a significant change in skin smoothness, firmness, glow and texture anywhere between day 2 – 7 days and your skin will feel hydrated, plumped and glowing.

However, after a mild Chemical Peel, your skin is usually normal and looks and feels noticeably smoother and tighter, giving it a glowing and plumped appearance.

With each additional treatment, you should see incremental improvement in the overall appearance of your skin.

How long will the results last?
The treatment can last up to 12 months dependant on your lifestyle, for example if you are a smoker or like to be in the sun, this can affect the results. A proper skincare regime at home as well as regular Chemical Peel treatments, are essential for optimal and long-lasting results.

Cellulite Reduction

This procedure is excellent for cellulite reduction and fat reduction. The ultrasonic head emits powerful sound wave pressure & vibration into the targeted area (40 000 per second) which breaks down pockets of fat cells into liquid without harming the skin or surrounding organs. An implosion inside the cell occurs and fatty acids and triglycerides are produced which are then readily removed by the lymphatic drainage system.

Minimum of 6 sessions are recommended for best results depending on the severity of the cellulite or amount of fat on the area. In some cases clients require up to 12 sessions. As with any treatment, the results may vary from person to person depending on age, tissue structure, treatment area, individual metabolism, current medications, and changes in hormones. Maintaining a proper diet and increased physical activity will certainly improve and help to maintain the results. This and other nonsurgical fat reduction treatments are not weight-loss procedures. To be a good candidate, you’ll need to be close to your goal weight (not more than 10-15kgs from your goal weight) and looking only to remove a stubborn fat deposits or cellulite.

Ultrasonic cavitation risks and side effects are rare, the most common symptoms are swelling or redness in the treated area that usually goes away in a day or 2. Some clients may notice more frequent urination after the treatment due to the release of toxins and waste by the body.

Can I drink alcohol?
To achieve the best results, it is recommended to refrain from any alcohol consumption for 2 – 3 days following your treatments. Alcohol can prevent your liver from working to remove fats as it will make alcohol metabolism its priority before fat removal and could hinder your results. Alcohol is treated like sugar and your body will convert it into FAT!

You will feel a warm sensation on your skin as the radio frequency energy heats it penetrates to the deeper tissue. Each RF treatment is between 30 – 60 minutes, depending on the area being treated.

You may experience some redness and swelling in the treated area after a radio frequency skin tightening procedure,
but these symptoms should resolve themselves within 24-48 hours.

SKIN TIGHTENING

Multi-Polar Radio Frequency (RF) is the latest technology to enable improvement in the texture, laxity and suppleness of the skin. RF Skin Tightening is a completely non-invasive, safe way of tightening loose skin around the face e.g. forehead, eyes, cheeks, mouth, jaw line, jowls, stomach, arms, legs and any other areas of the body where loose skin can develop. It not only improves the plumpness and suppleness of the skin, it also reduces the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles and creped skin.

High frequency radio waves create a superficial temperature of 38 °C – 42 °C under the skin. This is capable of stimulating the existing dermal collagen and producing a contraction of the epidermis which in turn produces a tighter looking skin. When the RF current passes through the tissue/Dermis, it produces slight friction which results in an intense temperature change therefore there is a collagen and elastin stimulation due to an activation of fibroblast cells

Throughout the procedure, your Skin Therapist (Somatologist) will ask for feedback on the level of heat sensation to help balance your comfort with maximum results. After treatment, your skin may be slightly red, but most people resume regular activities immediately after treatment. There’s typically no recovery time or special follow-up care.
